About

On April 15–16, 2026, Kharkiv hosted the IX International Scientific and Technical Conference “Modern Technologies for Processing Combustible Minerals,” organized by NTU “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” (Educational and Scientific Institute of Chemical Technologies and Engineering, Department of Oil, Gas and Solid Fuel Processing Technology) together with the State Enterprise “Ukrainian State Research Institute for Carbochemistry” (UKHIN). The event was chaired by Prof. I. Ryshchenko (NTU “KhPI”) and Dr. O. Borysenko (UKHIN), with a program committee including leading experts from NTU “KhPI”, UKHIN, and Lviv Polytechnic National University. The conference proceedings comprise over 200 pages of abstracts from university faculty, researchers, postgraduate students, and industry specialists across Ukraine.

The program was structured around key sections including solid fuel processing (coal blending, coking, blast furnace coke quality, coal-derived humates, coke oven gas systems) and oil refining and petrochemistry (petroleum chemmotology, bitumen and lubricant technologies, corrosion protection, waste-to-fuel conversion). Notable topics addressed the resilience of coke and chemical production technologies under wartime conditions and Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction, as well as international contributions on coke quality control, oil shale processing prospects, and refining potential of domestic crude oil fields. The conference reflects ongoing collaboration between academia and industry in advancing fuel and mineral processing technologies in Ukraine.
