During the Academic Year 2025/2026 all VUIAS Fellows will be obliged to engage in interdisciplinary exchange with their cohort through regular participation in the VUIAS colloquium and other events.

VUIAS Fellowships in Ukraine are granted for ten months (from October 1, 2025 to July 31, 2026) to scholars residing in Ukraine and working in Ukrainian universities and research institutes. The application must be in English and submitted via the VUIAS application platform. Application deadline is November 30, 2024, 2:00 pm CET.

Does tobacco use make Ukrainians poor?

Tobacco use remains a major public health concern leading to 18% of all deaths in Ukraine. The evidence from a 2021 household survey shows that 29% of households have positive tobacco expenditures with the average spending of $340 per year in families with smokers.
