Decoding Zurich’s Art Scene: Artful Perspectives Within and Beyond Institutional Horizons. Unraveling Institutional Impact on Artistic Development
The project aims to provide a nuanced understanding of the contemporary art institutional system in Zurich, emphasizing artists’ perceptions and needs. The analysis will explore the inner workings of prominent Zurich contemporary art institutions, including galleries and art fairs, identifying mechanisms of communication between emerging artists and art institutions, revealing existing opportunities. The research will extend to scrutinize the influence of global and local factors on Zurich’s art institutions, exploring their contributions to the broader art community at the intersection of history, sociology, and economics. A crucial aspect of the study involves a comparative analysis with other prominent art scenes, highlighting the artistic bridges established by institutions. The project comprises a research phase, with results presented through publications and a panel discussion beneficial for emerging artists and students at art universities. The initiative seeks to provide young artists with sophisticated insights from an insider’s perspective, complemented by rigorous external analytical scrutiny.
